History of the Brand
Formidabile was launched in Rome in 2014 by a small team who wanted an amaro that tasted like the bitter roots in it rather than like caramel.
The name comes from Rome's own dialect-inflected slang for something magnificent, and the label's typography deliberately echoes mid-century Roman signage.
Each botanical is macerated on its own so the blend can be adjusted precisely — a craft-distilling method rather than a heritage one.
It became one of the flagship bottles of the so-called new-wave amaro movement, alongside a handful of other post-2010 Italian producers.
Tasting Characteristics
Gentian, dried orange, rhubarb and a resinous herb note.
Sharp root bitterness, cocoa, quinine and citrus peel, very little sugar.
Long, dry and firmly bitter.

How should I drink Formidabile?
